Anyway I assume that the brackets around the first set of numbers are absolute value brackets so that means you get two equations as such:
2x-2>13+x
and
-(2x-2)>13+x
We'll solve the first one first.
2x-2>13+x
Subtract X from both sides and subtract 2 from both sides.
x>15
That's one of your answers. Now the second equation:
-(2x-2)>13+x
Divide both sides by -1 to switch the negative sign to the other side. Keep in mind you need to switch the greater than sign to a less than sign.
2x-2<-13-x
Then add X to both sides and add 2 to both sides.
3x<-11
Solve for x.
x<-11/3
